Balmas, MacLean named Huskies Athletes of the Week

A pair of hockey Huskies have been named Huskies Athlete of the Week, sponsored by Outcast Upcycled Nutrition.

Men's Hockey player Mitchell Balmas (Sydney, N.S.) is the Huskies male athlete of the week for the week of Nov. 15-21. 

Balmas, a second year forward, recorded 6 points (2 goals, 4 assists) and was +4 in a pair of Huskies wins. He scored the game winning goal and an assist in the Huskies 4-1 win over UPEI on Nov. 19 and added one goal and three assists in a 6-1 win over Acadia on Nov. 20. Balmas was also named to represent Team Canada at the FISU Winter Universiade in Switzerland next month.

Women's hockey player Kara MacLean (Antigonish, N.S.) is the Huskies female athlete of the week for the week of Nov. 15-21.

MacLean, a first year forward, recorded 4 points (1 goal, 3 assists) and was +1 in a pair of Huskies wins. She scored the game winning goal and added two assists in the Huskies 5-3 win over Dalhousie on Nov. 20, and had one assist in a 3-1 win over St.FX on Nov. 23. The Huskies, ranked #2 in U Sports, are on a 9 game win streak with MacLean recording 11 points (4 goals, 7 assists) over the streak.
