Huskies Women's Hockey ranked #1 in U SPORTS

Congratulations to the SMU Huskies women's hockey and women's volleyball teams for once again appearing in this week's U SPORTS Top 10 rankings.

The Huskies women's hockey is ranked #1 in the country, moving up from last week's #2 ranking. This marks the second time in Huskies women's hockey history that the program has been ranked #1, after previously reaching the top spot on Feb 25, 2020.

"It's a testament to the hard work that our players put in daily," said Huskies head coach Chris Larade. "It's great to get that acknowledgment and recognition, but it doesn't change what we need to do. We're still not where we want to be, and we have a lot of work to do to get there before March."

In a pair of games this past weekend, the Huskies defeated the Dalhousie Tigers 5-3, and the #8 ranked St. FX X-Women 3-1.

The Huskies are currently atop the AUS standings with a 12-1-1 record and are on a nine game unbeaten streak heading into this weekend's games vs. #7 ranked UNB on Nov. 27 and at UPEI on Nov. 28.

Huskies women's volleyball dropped three spots in the national rankings, from #5 last week to #8 this week, after losing their first match of the season to UNB on Sunday afternoon. The Huskies finished the AUS League Tournament at Dalhousie with a 2-1 record, recording a 3-1 win over Acadia, 3-0 win over Moncton, and 3-1 loss to UNB.

Saint Mary's finished the fall semester atop the AUS standings with an 8-1 record and return to the court on Jan. 14.
