Huskies women’s soccer announces 2022 recruiting class

Saint Mary's University Huskies women's soccer coach Marisa Colzie is pleased to announce the commitment of 13 recruits that will be joining the Huskies this fall.

 

Kaitlyn Alley

Kaitlyn Alley, a 5'8" goalkeeper out of Milton, ON, will be joining the Huskies out of Bishop Reding Catholic Secondary School and North Mississauga Soccer Club.

"Katie is a goalkeeper that has played at the highest level in Ontario," says Huskies head coach Marisa Colzie. "She is a quality shot stopper and has great distribution. What sets her apart as a keeper is her leadership between the pipes. I am excited to have her on campus this fall."

This past summer Alley played with Bolton Wanderers Soccer Club, alongside fellow Huskies commitment Julia Pasma, and trained with Coach Maria Soccer.

Alley previously played two seasons with North Mississauga Soccer Club in the Ontario Player Development League, and with Milton Magic Soccer Club and Dixie Burloak Academy,

An honour roll student and lead team member of the Bishop Reding Catholic Secondary's Student Athletic Association, Alley will be pursuing a Bachelor of Commerce degree at Saint Mary's with a focus in Entrepreneurship.

 

 

Charlotte Baines

Charlotte Baines, a 5'8" attacking midfielder/striker out of Halifax, N.S., will be joining the Huskies out of Citadel High School and Halifax City Soccer Club

"Charlotte is a very talented soccer player who matches her talent with hard work," says Huskies head coach Marisa Colzie. "She is strong, has great pace, and has the ability to play both sides of the ball. I am excited to see what Charlotte does in her first year as a Husky."

Baines played with Halifax City this summer in the NSSL Senior Women's AAA, the province's top tier league. In 2020, Baines captained Halifax City's U17AAA Girls team and tied for the league lead in scoring with 21 points.

Baines has represented Nova Scotia at the provincial level several times, winning three Atlantic Championships, and twice attended the Whitecaps FC Combine in Vancouver.

A multi-sport athlete, Baines also plays high level hockey, and her sister Emma played four years with the SMU Huskies rugby team from 2017-20.

An honour roll student at Citadel High School, Baines will be pursuing a Bachelor of Commerce degree at Saint Mary's.

 

Emma Bristow

Emma Bristow, a 5'9" winger/fullback out of Surrey, B.C., will be joining the Huskies out of Semiahmoo Secondary School and Coastal FC.

"Emma is a strong left footed player who will help our left flank with her pace," says Huskies head coach Marisa Colzie. "She has played at the highest level in B.C. and I look forward to seeing her grow in the AUS."

Bristow plays with Coastal FC of the prestigious BC Soccer Premier League, and won the SX Cup in 2019. She also volunteers as a coach and referee, and was named Coastal FC's 2019 Outstanding Youth Referee of the Year.

An honour roll student at Semiahmoo Secondary School, Bristow has won numerous academic awards and will be pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree at Saint Mary's.

 

Lindy Brunelle

Lindy Brunelle, a 5'7" striker/attacking midfielder out of Newmarket, ON, will be joining the Huskies out of William Mulock Secondary School and Union FC.

"Lindy is an extremely exciting player to watch in the attack," says Huskies head coach Marisa Colzie. "She is creative and brave in the buildup, and she will add another offensive spark to our offense."

Brunelle played two seasons with Union FC in the Ontario Player Development League, and joined Richmond Hill SC for the 2022 season to compete in the League 1 Reserve Level. She was also a member of the Bradford Eagles, winning the 2019 Umbro Cup, EDP championship, and the provincial indoor soccer league championship. She is a long-time teammate of fellow Huskies commit Alexa Ikejiani.

An honour roll student at William Mulock Secondary School, Brunelle will be pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology at Saint Mary's.

 

Alexandra Campbell

Alexandra Campbell, a 5'6" defender out of Vancouver B.C., will be joining the Huskies out of King George Secondary School and Fusion FC.

"Alex is a great wingback that has the capacity to get up and down the pitch with ease," says Huskies head coach Marisa Colzie. "She will bring immediate depth to our backline and will be a key to our attack out of the back."

Campbell played for Fusion FC in the prestigious BC Soccer Premier League. A multi-sport athlete, Campbell excels at distance running, winning a provincial gold medal in the 3000m and bronze medal in the 1500m. She plans on also running cross-country at Saint Mary's this fall.

Off the field, Campbell is a top student, graduating from the International Baccalaureate program at King George Secondary, and plans to study Anthropology at Saint Mary's.

 

Fiona Davidson

Fiona Davidson, a 5'7" centre-midfielder/winger out of Halifax, N.S., will be joining the Huskies out of Halifax West High School and Dunbrack FC.

"Fiona is a talented player with great soccer IQ, passing ability, and vision," says Huskies head coach Marisa Colzie. "She is an extremely hard worker and a great teammate with her positive attitude."

Davidson played with Dunbrack FC this summer in the NSSL Senior Women's AAA, the province's top tier league, where she helped the team advance to the league final.

Davidson also helped lead Halifax West High School to a provincial silver medal this past fall, and was a part of the Soccer Nova Scotia Canada Games pool during the winter cycle.

Davidson spent most of her youth soccer career in Edmonton, AB, playing at the top level with Edmonton Southwest United where she captained the team for two seasons.

An honour roll student at Halifax West High School, Davidson will be pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree at Saint Mary's.

 

Ellie Eriksson

Ellie Eriksson, a 5'5" centre-midfielder/defender out of Ottawa, ON, will be joining the Huskies out of Ashbury College and Futuro Soccer Academy.

"Ellie is top quality player and person," says Huskies head coach Marisa Colzie. "She is always looking for ways to improve as a player and teammate. Ellie will make an immediate impact in our environment and I am so excited to have her a part of the Huskies Family."

Eriksson helped lead her Futuro Soccer Academy team to the 2021 Women's Competitive One League Championship. She previously played three seasons in the Ontario Player Development League with West Ottawa Soccer Club, and was a member of the Ontario Soccer Provincial Projects from U13-U16.

Off the field, Eriksson is a top student, graduating from the International Baccalaureate program at Ashbury College, and plans to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at Saint Mary's.

 

Isabel Goncalves

Isabel Goncalves, a 5'6" centre-midfielder/winger out of Wellington, N.S., will be joining the Huskies out of Lockview High School and Suburban FC.

"Isabel is a multi-sport athlete with an incredible work ethic and positive attitude," says Huskies head coach Marisa Colzie. "She is going to bring so much to our environment both on and off the pitch and we are so excited to have her with us this August."

As a member of Suburban FC, Goncalves participated in the 2019 Canada Soccer Youth National Championship, won a 2018 provincial title and 2017 Atlantic Championship.

Goncalves is a multi-sport athlete, representing Nova Scotia in Rugby at the 2022 Canada Summer Games, coached by current Huskies rugby head coach Emma DeLory. She also is an accomplished athlete in basketball, badminton, track and flag football.

An honour roll student at Lockview High, Goncalves will be pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology at Saint Mary's.

 

Alexa Ikejiani

Alexa Ikejiani, a 5'4" defender out of Barrie, ON, will be joining the Huskies out of St. Joseph High School and Union FC.

"Alexa is a smart and speedy defender who is composed on the ball and likes to get stuck-in," says Huskies head coach Marisa Colzie. "She had played at the highest level in Ontario and I look forward to seeing her growth in the AUS."

Ikejiani played three seasons in the Ontario Player Development League, and joined Richmond Hill SC for the 2022 season to compete at the League 1 Reserve Level. She is a long-time teammate of fellow Huskies commit Lindy Brunelle.

An honour roll student at St. Joseph High, Ikejiani will be pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at Saint Mary's.

 

Emily Maclean

Emily Maclean, a 5'5" goalkeeper out of Lower Sackville, N.S., will be joining the Huskies out of Millwood High School and Halifax Hotspurs SC.

"We are excited to have Emily join our team in 2022," says Huskies head coach Marisa Colzie. "Emily has made huge improvements as a keeper in the past few years through her dedication and hard work. When many athletes took a break during the pandemic Emily pushed even harder to reach her goals. She is determined to make her mark in the Huskies uniform and I am excited about her journey ahead."

Maclean played for Halifax Hotspurs during the summer of 2022, and previously played for Suburban FC, where she was a N.S. U15AAA Provincial Champion, a U13 Club Atlantic Champion, and attended Club Nationals.

An honour roll student, Maclean will be pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology, with hopes of becoming a police officer.

 

Julia Pasma

Julia Pasma, a 5'7" midfielder out of Georgetown, Ontario, will be joining the Huskies out of Georgetown District High School and Bolton Wanderers Soccer Club.

"Julia is a top midfielder with great vision and pose on the ball," says Huskies head coach Marisa Colzie. "She will make an immediate impact in the middle of the pitch with her work rate and passing ability. She is one of the hardest workers and she does it with a smile on her face. Her passion for the game is on full display with everything she does."

Pasma plays for Bolton Wanderers Soccer Club, where she competed in the 2019 USA Cup, and was a finalist at the 2018 Charity Cup Canada. This past summer, Pasma toured the UK with ProSoccerGlobal Canada playing and training against top U19 women's soccer teams from across the world. She also trains with Coach Maria Soccer, and has been a teammate of fellow Huskies commitment Kaitlyn Alley.

A multi-sport athlete, Pasma also played high level volleyball and basketball. She will be pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree at Saint Mary's, and hopes to become a firefighter.

 

Maya Stoppa

Maya Stoppa, a 5'4" centre-midfielder/winger out of Ottawa, ON, will be joining the Huskies out of Nepean High School and Ottawa South United.

"Maya is an extremely coachable player who demonstrates great composure on the ball, vision, soccer IQ, and passing accuracy," says Huskies head coach Marisa Colzie. "She strives to be the best she can be through her work ethic and positive attitude."

Stoppa played four seasons with Ottawa South United in the Ontario Player Development League from U14-U17, winning the OPDL Coaches Award in 2018 and 2019. She was also a member of the Ontario Soccer Provincial Projects from U13-U16.

A multi-sport athlete, Stoppa also played rugby and volleyball at Nepean High.

Off the pitch, Stoppa is an honour role student and will be pursuing a Bachelor of Commerce degree at Saint Mary's.

 

Jaimieson Tobin

Jaimieson Tobin, a 5'8" defender out of Antigonish, N.S., will be joining the Huskies out of Dr. John Hugh Gillis Regional High School and Northern Nova United.

"Jaimie is a fearless defender that loves to get stuck-in," says Huskies head coach Marisa Colzie. "She does well to win the ball and transition to the attack and I am excited to see her growth while donning the maroon."

Tobin plays with Northern Nova United and played with Halifax County United from U15AAA to U17AAA. She is a former member of the Nova Scotia provincial team and was selected to participated in the Whitecaps FC U13 combine in Vancouver.

Tobin received the Bruce MacDonald Award for her dedication and team leadership with JH Gillis High, and was named team rookie of the year in her first season.

An excellent student, Tobin has earned her bilingual certification in French. She will be pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree at Saint Mary's.
