Huskies end season with 1-0 win over UdeM

(HALIFAX, N.S.)—The Saint Mary's Huskies sent their graduating players home with a 1-0 win on Friday night over the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleu in Atlantic University Sport men's soccer action from Huskies Stadium.

Both teams went scoreless in the first half, with SMU having nine shots, compared to six for Moncton.

Moncton made four saves in the half, while SMU had three.

Cian Tousignant-Osiadhail scored the lone goal of the match in the 55th minute for Saint Mary's.

The third-year midfielder from Timberlea, Nova Scotia stepped up to the penalty spot and beat Moncton keeper Andre LeBlanc for his fourth goal of the year as SMU led 1-0.

Moncton out shot SMU 11-7 in the second half and 17-16 for the match.

Each goalie made eight saves in the match, with LeBlanc picking up the loss for UdeM while Jensen Brown (Enfield, NS) nabbed the win for Saint Mary's.

Moncton falls to 3-7-1 with 10 points and finish their season October 26th at home versus Cape Breton at 5:15 p.m.

Forward Tyler Dorey (Cole Harbour, NS) and midfielder Nolan Leeco (Bedford, NS) played their last games at Huskies Stadium for Saint Mary's while Halifax natives Joe Pottinger, Alex Black, Kwaku Korankye, and Jonathon Wentzell finished their fourth year as Huskies.

SMU improves to 6-5-1 and their 19 points are good for the 5th seed heading into next weekend's 2019 Subway AUS Men's Soccer Championship – presented by Keep It Social and hosted by Cape Breton.
