Bio

Ebenezer Owusu-Afriyie returned to the Huskies coaching staff in 2021, after previously assisting Coach Mert from 2014-2017

Ebenezer grew up in Ghana and immigrated to Canada in 1999. He lived in Toronto before moving to London, Ontario to play soccer at Fanshawe College, where he was a two-time OCAA All-Star, Fanshawe College Indoor MVP, and Men’s Defensive Player of the Year, and helped lead the Falcons to two OCAA Finals. He also played for London Portuguese in the Western Ontario Soccer League from 2002-2008.

Owusu-Afriyie originally moved to the Maritimes in 2009, suiting up for the Cape Breton University Capers and helping them with the 2009 AUS Championship. He then played the 2011 season for the University of New Brunswick where he was named UNB Athlete of the Week.

Upon graduating, Ebenezer moved to Halifax, and joined Suburban FC, where he played for the Senior’s Men’s team and coached the U18 boys from 2012-2017.

He currently resides in Halifax with his wife and two young children.
