Huskies men finish 7th at UNB AUS-RSEQ Interlock Invitational

In their final race before hosting the AUS Cross Country Championships, the Huskies travelled to Fredericton as the UNB Reds played host to the annual AUS-RSEQ Interlock Invitational. With competition from both conferences rounding into form for the upcoming championship season, the Huskies showed well with the men's team placing 7th overall in the team standings.

Rory McGarvey continued his run of excellent finishes this season, as he again showed well for the maroon and white, placing 13th (26:21) overall. McGarvey was also the 5th AUS athlete across the line as he looks to improve upon his 14th overall placing at last year's AUS Cross Country Championships. Following him across the line to score for the Huskies was Teagan Scott (38th, 27:31), Joe Stewart (44th, 27:51), Alex Labrecque (81st, 30:31), and Tadiwanashe Whingwiri (94th, 32:00).

On the women's side, the Huskies were led by Gael Cameron (69th, 35:56) and Alexandra Campbell (71st, 36:04) as Jacqueline Moore (88th, 37:55) and Angelique Gittens (96th, 38:54) also crossed the line for the women, as they now look to fielding a healthy squad to score at the AUS Cross Country Championships.

Jean-Simon Desgagnes and Catherine Beauchemin, both of the Laval Rouge-et-Or, were the individual winners of the men's and women's races, leading both of their teams to 1st in the team standings.

The SMU Huskies will host the AUS Cross Country Championships on Saturday, October 28th at Point Pleasant Park starting at 12:00pm.
