Peverill, Bruhm named Huskies Athletes of the Week: Jan. 16-22, 2023

Men's track & field athlete Andrew Peverill and women's volleyball outside hitter Megan Bruhm have been named Huskies Athletes of the Week, sponsored by Freeman's Little New York Halifax, for the week of Jan. 16-22, 2023.

Andrew Peverill, a fifth year track & field athlete from Lower Sackville, N.S., is the Huskies male athlete of the week for the week of Jan. 16-22, 2023.

At Saturday's Athletics Nova Scotia Open meet, Peverill won the 3000 metres with a time of 8:07.58, a time that broke his own Saint Mary's school record, and currently ranks as the third fastest time in the U SPORTS rankings.

Peverill and the Huskies will return to competition this week as they travel to Saint John, N.B. to compete in the UNB Invitational.

 

Megan Bruhm, a third year outside hitter from Hubley, N.S., is the Huskies female athlete of the week for the week of Jan. 16-22, 2023.

In Sunday's four set win over the Moncton Aigles Bleues, Bruhm was named Subway Player of the Game, recording 11 kills, 14 digs, three blocks, three service aces and one assist.

In Saturday's three set win over the Moncton Aigles Bleus, Bruhm recorded eight kills, eight digs, one block and one assist.

On the season Bruhm ranks third in the conference in service aces (21), and fourth in the conference in kills (116), points (147), and points per set (3.2).

The Huskies winning weekend improved their record to 8-4 on the season.
