Huskies fall to Gee-Gees in Shoveller final

(Halifax, NS)  Caleb Agada had a game-high 25 points in the Ottawa Gee-Gees 78-69 win over the Saint Mary's Huskies in the championship final of the Rod and Joan Memorial Men's Basketball Tournament, hosted by the Dalhousie Tigers.

The U Sports #4 ranked team improved to 3-0 for the weekend, controlling the pace of play during the entire championship final. They led by as many as 15 during the game.

Agada also had 12 rebounds in the game and was named the MVP of the tournament for his stellar play. Jean Emmanuel Pierre-Charles had 12 points and 11 rebounds in the final and was named to the tournament all-star team.

Brian Rouse led the way for the Huskies with 19 points and eight rebounds, while tournament all-star Theon Reefer had 15 points, 14 rebounds and six assists.

Ottawa will head to Waterloo Friday, January 6 for their opening game of 2017.

Huskies will head to Memorial for a two-game stint starting Saturday, January 7.
