Huskies come back for win over Moncton

(Halifax, NS) In AUS hockey action Saturday night, the Huskies scored two unanswered goals in the third to beat visiting Moncton 4-3 at the Halifax Forum.  

Saint Mary's got on the board first at the 12:26 mark when Ben Duffy connected with Gerard Grant and Calder Brooks.  The score remained 1-0 after one.  Shots in the first were 13-8 in favor of Moncton.

In the second, UdeM scored quickly on a powerplay goal by Steve Lebel at 1:25.  Just 4 minutes later, they capitalized on another powerplay opportunity and went up 2-1 over the Huskies on a goal by Jean-Francois Plante. Saint Mary's answered back at 11:48 on an unassisted goal by 4th year forward, Bradley Greene (Tilting, NF).  UdeM would close out the scoring in the 2nd on a goal by Pierre Durepos at 13:48 to make it 3-2 after two.  Shots in the 2nd were 12-4 for Moncton.

The third was all Saint Mary's, as the Huskies scored midway through the period on a powerplay goal by Stephen MacAulay, assisted by Francis Menard and Mitchell Maynard.  Third year forward Steven Beyers, sealed the win on the fourth and final goal, on a pass from Ben Duffy.

Total shots on the night were 29 (UdeM) 25 (SMU).  The Huskies travel to Antigonish to face StFX on Wednesday and Moncton is home vs UPEI.  Both games are 7 p.m.
