Huskies earn single point in 0-0 draw with REDS

Goalkeeper Ryan Davis (Lake Loon, NS) posted a seven save clean sheet as the Huskies and REDS played to a 0-0 draw on Friday night at Huskies Stadium in Halifax.

It was Senior's Night for the Huskies as graduating players Jensen Brown (Enfield, NS), Cameron Zinn (Bridgewater, NS), Sumit Malik (Dartmouth, NS) and Cian Tousignant-Osiadhail were honoured pre-game for their years of commitment to the program.

The Huskies best chance on the first half came in the 38th minute when forward James Spence (Hammonds Plains, NS), had an opportunity to finish off a cross from Adam Dunsworth (Halifax, NS) but was stopped by REDS keeper Louis-Charles Vaillancourt (Sherbrooke, QC)

Moments later it was the REDS who had a great chance, as striker Luke Rosettani (Kanata, ON) had a clear look at goal but Davis made a diving save just before the official blew his whistle for halftime.

Davis continued his strong play in the second half with several great saves, and got a little help from his defence on a corner kick in the 74th minute, as Tousignant-Osiadhail cleared a scoring chance off the line to keep the game scoreless, and 90 minutes went without a goal for either side.

Davis was named Subway Player of the Game with seven saves, while Vaillancourt was credited with five stops for the REDS.

With the draw the Huskies now stand at 6-3-2 on the campaign. They'll be back on home turf next Saturday, Oct. 29 as they host the Memorial Sea-Hawks at 1:15 p.m., for their final match of the regular season.

The REDS are now 6-1-2 on the season. UNB will be back on the road tomorrow, heading to Wolfville, N.S. to take on the Acadia Axemen, with kick-off scheduled for 7:15 p.m.
