Huskies Track & Field post successful results at first meet of the campaign

The Saint Mary's Huskies sprinters and jumpers had their first taste of competition last night as the 2022-23 season got underway for the Huskies Men's and Women's Track & Field teams.

The Canada Games Centre played host to the SMU/DAL Dual Meet which saw the high jump, long jump, 60m and 300m contested.

Kicking off the night was the men's high jump, which Eric Wall started off the season on the right foot, tying for first with a jump of 1.95m, narrowly faulting his attempts at the infamous 2.00m mark.

Next up for the jumpers was Dante Isadore, winning the men's long jump with a distance of 6.54m.

Both Isadore and Wall will look to carry their momentum from individual fifth place performances in long jump and high jump at the Canada Summer Games this past August in Niagara, ON.

On the sprints side, Lily Wylie scored a huge personal best in the 60m, crossing the line in 8.13, placing her fifth on the night.

Capping off the night was the men's 300m where Innis MacMullin ran to a personal best, coming within 0.4 of a second of the SMU record with a time of 36.56.

MacMullin will certainly look to better that time in two weeks, as will the rest of the Huskies, as the full team will be in action at the Athletics NS Last Chance Meet on Saturday, December 3.
