Isadore sets new Saint Mary's record in long jump at Athletics Nova Scotia Last Chance Meet

HALIFAX, N.S. - In the last competition before the Holiday break, the Huskies had an excellent showing at the Athletics NS Last Chance Meet this past weekend.

Kicking things off in a big way Saturday morning was second-year athlete, Dante Isadore (Wagmatcook, NS), winning the men's Long Jump. Isadore jumped 7.01m, breaking the 7.00m barrier for the first time in his career, and smashing the 30-year-old SMU school record in the process (6.88m, set in 1992 by Steve White). This now ranks him 2nd in the U SPORTS rankings this season.

Nikola Kriznar (Halifax, NS) also joins a group of Huskies in the top 12 of U SPORTS rankings. In the 300m, Kriznar sprinted to a personal best time of 36.90, ranking him 8th in U SPORTS in the event. Kriznar also recorded two more personal bests with a 7.08 in the 60m and 6.21m in the Long Jump.

Adding to the list of personal bests on the day was Braden Marshall (Fall River, NS) in the men's 60m Hurdles, crossing the line in a time of 9.79 to place 2nd. On the women's sprints side, Mackenzie Roach, Kelly MacInnis (Sydney, NS), and Lori Marsman, all ran to personal bests, with Roach recording PB's in the 60m (8.26) and 300m (44.11), MacInnis in the 60m (8.43), and Marsman in the 60m (8.69). In the sand pit, the Eric Wall (Sydney, NS) jumped to a new PB in the Long Jump with 5.87m after earlier tying his PB in the High Jump of 1.95m.

On the second day of competition, the throwers took to the circle, with first-year's Mason Dunlop (11.77m) and Fergus Porter (10.47m) throwing personal bests in the shot put, and heptathlete, Tristan Sutherland (Miramichi, NB), also throwing a PB of 7.21m.

After the winter break, the Huskies are back in action January 20-22nd in Halifax and Truro as the team competes in the Athletics NS Indoor Open at the Canada Games Centre and Cougar Dome.
