(Halifax, NS) In AUS women's basketball action from the Homburg Centre, the visiting Cape Breton Capers defeated the Saint Mary's Huskies 76-63.
The Capers outscored the Huskies 23-10 in the first and 24 – 19 in the 2nd. The Huskies outscored the Capers 18 – 12 in the third quarter, but the 4th went back to the Capers 17-16.
Subway Player of the game Hannah Brown (North Sydney, NS) lead all scorers with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Her teammate Monique Calliste (Toronto, ON) added 18 points and 8 rebounds. The only other Caper in double digits was Toni Bianchini (Groves Point, NS) with 11.
For the Huskies, top scorers were 4th year forward Josie Gascoigne (Dartmouth, NS) with 18 points and 3 rebounds. First year guard Alaina McMillan (Brantford, ON) added 13 points and 4 rebounds.
The 14-2 Capers are currently tied for 2nd place in the AUS standings and travel to Acadia to take on the Axewomen Saturday.
