Huskies Women's Basketball announce commitment of guard Georgia Bell

HALIFAX, NS - Saint Mary's women's basketball head coach Scott Munro is pleased to announce the addition of guard Georgia Bell to the Huskies line-up for the 2023-24 season.

A 5'9" guard from Miramichi, N.B., Bell starred at Miramichi Valley High School, leading her team to the 2023 New Brunswick Interscholastic Athletic Association (NBIAA) AAA Championship, being named Most Valuable Player of the Championship Final.

Bell averaged over 23 points per game her senior season, and was named NBIAA AAA Player of the Year, as well as a provincial all-star.

Bell also represented New Brunswick as a member of the U17 Girls Provincial Team at the 2022 National Championships, helping lead her province to a 7th place finish.

"We are very excited to have Georgia join our program in the fall," says Huskies head coach Scott Munro. "Georgia is a versatile player who does many things well and can help stretch the defense with her shooting. Georgia is a strong all-around athlete who is also very competitive. Her abilities will blend in great with our team and we are looking forward to having her join us as part of our group."

"I am very excited to join the Saint Mary's University women's basketball team!" says Bell. "I am more than grateful for this opportunity to play the sport that I love at a higher level with such a great team. Proud to be a Husky!"

Bell will be studying a Bachelor of Commerce at Saint Mary's. She joins Julia Black as the second committment announced to the Huskies 2023-24 recruiting class.

The Huskies won the 2023 AUS Women's Basketball Championship, and finished fourth place at the U SPORTS Final 8.
