Huskies make in 10 in a row with 7-2 win over MTA

(HALIFAX, NS)  In Saturday afternoon AUS women's hockey action, the first place Huskies topped the visiting Mount Allison 7-2 at Alumni Arena.

The Huskies who dropped their first two regular season games and have now won 10 in a row and sit in first place in the AUS standings to end the first half of the season. 

Saint Mary's wasted no time getting on the board on a goal by Hayley Halilihan at 07:15.  Assists came from Kiana Wilkinson and Laura Polak.  The Huskies struck again at 19:51 on a goal by captain and league scoring leader, Breanna Lanceleve, assisted by Caitlyn Manning.  The Huskies lead 2-0 after the first.  

The second period saw an flurry of scoring, when the Huskies scored 4 unanswered goals and lead 6-0 nearing the end of the 2nd.  The Mounties got on the scoreboard late in the 2nd on a goal by Kelsey MacDougall at 18:06.  The score after two was 6-1 in favour of the Huskies.  

Midway through third period action, Mount Allison got their second of the game on a shorthanded goal by Heather Richards.  The Huskies would come back minutes later on a powerplay goal by Haylee Tretiak to end things off at 7-2.  In nets for SMU, Rebecca Clark had 23 saves and for the Mounties Lindsay Wray turned away 19 shots and starter Keri Martin had 6 saves on 11 shots.

Heading in the Christams break, Breanna Lanceleve leads the league in scoring with 17 points, followed by Laura Polak in 2nd place with 14 points.  Caitlyn Schell is also in a 6 was tie in 5th place with 10 points.
