Dubuc gets Double OT Winner as Aigles Bleues Edge Huskies 2-1

(Halifax, NS) The Universite de Moncton Aigles Bleues defeated the Saint Mary's Huskies 2-1 in double overtime in AUS women's hockey action Saturday afternoon at Alumni Arena.

The two teams did not find the net in the first period, with lots of excitement and chances at both ends.

In the second period, Moncton broke the deadlock when Katryne Villeneuve (Casselman, ON) scored off a backhand in the slot at 2:57, with the assist going to Natacha Bergeson (Berthierville, QC), to make it 1-0. The Huskies answered when Mary Worndl (Kitchener, ON) tallied off a two on none from the circle at 6:36, with Hannah Askin (Waterloo, ON) and BreannaLanceleve (Middle Sackville, NS) getting the assists, to tie things up at 1-1 after two periods. 

 The teams went scoreless in the third, with the excitement and chances continuing as the game went to overtime.

The first overtime, a four on four period, did not solve anything with the pressure being applied by both teams for the winner.

In the second overtime, being played three on three, the Aigles Bleues found the back of the net when Katherine Dubuc (Victoriaville, QC) potted the marker off a rebound at 3:52, with Cassandra Labrie (Cole Harbour, NS) getting theassist, to get the victory.

The Huskies outshot the Aigles Bleues 29-24. Gabrielle Forget (Joliette, QC) made 28 saves to get the win for the Aigles BleuesJustine McIntosh (East. St. Paul, MA) stopped 22 shots in goal for the Huskies.

Both teams are right back to action tomorrow at home. Moncton hosts the Saint Francis Xavier X-Women at 2:00 pm while the Huskies are at home to the St. Thomas Tommies at 3.
