Huskies tops UPEI 2-1, finishes in first place

(Charlottetown, PE) – The Saint Mary's Huskies defeated the UPEI Panthers 2-1, to finish first in AUS Women's Hockey regular season standings.  The game was played in front of 136 fans at MacLauchlan Arena.

The Huskies Rebecca Johnson opened the scoring early in the first at 17:54.  Earning the assists were Haylee Tretiak and Celine Van de Molen.

The Panthers Emma Martin tied the score at 3:54 of the second with Cassidy McCabe and Emma Weatherbie earning assists.  The Huskies Breanne Lanceleve regained the lead with the eventual winning goal a few minutes later at 18:22 assisted by Laura Polak and Carly Gray.

Rebecca Clarke made 11 saves for the win, while Kristy Brown turned aside 24 shots in the loss.

 

The Huskies played secured a first round bye and now prepare for the their opponent in the AUS semi-finals.
