Huskies announce commitment of runner Zack Kennedy for 2024-25 season

Saint Mary's cross country and track & field head coach Kevin Heisler is pleased to announce the commitment of Zack Kennedy to the Huskies line-up for the 2024-25 season.

A middle-distance runner, Zack Kennedy is expected to be an impact addition for the Huskies in both Cross Country and Track & Field next season.

Kennedy was a multi-sport athlete at Robert A. McMath Secondary School, and finished 25th in the province at the 2023 BCSS AAA Provincial Cross Country Championships with a time of 16:43.70.

Kennedy also competes with the Richmond Kajaks Track & Field Club, where he won the 2023 Marek Jedrzejeck Award for Outstanding performance by an athlete in Track Endurance events. At the 2023 Bell Canadian Track & Field Championships in Langley, BC, Kennedy ran a personal best 1:59.45 in the 800m, finishing 12th in the U20 division. At the 2023 Royal Canadian Legion National Youth Track & Field Championships in Sherbrooke, QC, Kennedy ran a personal best of 6:27.21 in the 2000m Steeplechase, finishing 10th overall. 

"I'm excited to join the cross country and track teams at Saint Mary's this fall," says Kennedy. "I'm grateful for the opportunity to continue running while I work towards a degree in engineering. Looking forward to training and competing in the AUS with the Huskies!"

"Zack Kennedy has shown steady improvement in his running career, and we are delighted to welcome him to our Cross Country and Track & Field teams," says Huskies head coach Kevin Heisler.

An excellent student, Kennedy currently has a 97% average and will be studying Engineering at the Saint Mary's.
