Peverill, Gascoigne named Huskies Athletes of the Week: Feb. 28-March 6
Men's track and field athlete Andrew Peverill and women's basketball player Clara Gascoigne have been named Huskies Athletes of the Week for the week of Feb. 28-March 6, sponsored by Outcast Upcycled Nutrition.
Huskies track and field star Andrew Peverill (Sackville, NS) is the Huskies male athlete of the week for the week of Feb. 28-March 6.
At the Athletic Nova Scotia Open on Saturday, Peverill set a new Saint Mary's record in winning the 1500m in 3:48.35. His performance automatically qualifies him for the U SPORTS Track & Field Championships in Saint John on March 31-April 2. Andrew is currently ranked 6th in the 1500m U SPORTS rankings.
Women's basketball player Clara Gascoigne (Dartmouth, NS) is the Huskies female athlete of the week for the week of Feb. 28-March 6.
In a pair of Huskies wins over Memorial, Gascoigne, a second year guard, averaged 17.5 points, on 58% shooting from the field and 100% FT (6/6), and added 7 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.5 blocks per game.
On the season Gascoigne is tied for second on the Huskies in scoring (13.5 points per game), leads the team in rebounding (7.0 rebounds per game) and leads the conference in steals (30) and blocks (24).
