Saint Mary’s Athletics announces return of Huskies Sport Hall of Fame, 2024 inductees

HALIFAX, NS - Saint Mary's University Department of Athletics is pleased to announce the return of our Huskies Sport Hall of Fame, and the Class of 2024 inductees.

The Huskies Sport Hall of Fame Class of 2024 includes legendary basketball player Justine Colley-Leger BComm'14 as an athlete, long-time field hockey coach Sharon Rajaraman as a builder, and the 1976-77 Huskies Women's Basketball team in the team category.

"On behalf of Saint Mary's University and Huskies Athletics & Recreation, we are thrilled to be bringing back the Huskies Sport Hall of Fame this October," says Scott Gray, Saint Mary's Director of Athletics & Recreation. "In conjunction with our celebration of 50 Years of Women in Varsity Sport at Saint Mary's University, we are honoured to celebrate these deserving inductees who have all been a part of the rich history of Huskies Women's Sports."

The 2024 Huskies Sport Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be held on Saturday, October 5, as part of Homecoming weekend. The event, which is open to the public, will consist of a welcome reception beginning at 9:30 a.m., followed by the induction ceremony at 10:00 a.m. A brunch will follow at the Gorsebrook lounge, a separate registration is required.

The Huskies Sport Hall of Fame was founded in 1995, intended to recognize athletes, builders and teams who have made a significant contribution to the athletic programmes at Saint Mary's, and who, as a result of this contribution, have enhanced the image and reputation of the institution. This year's induction ceremony will mark the first new inductions to the Huskies Sport Hall of Fame since 2019.
