Huskies defeat Mounties 33-22 for second straight win
SACKVILLE, NB - The Saint Mary's Huskies won their second straight game, defeating the Mount Allison Mounties 33-22 on a wet and windy Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field in Sackville, N.B.
In the first quarter, the Huskies took a 6-0 lead thanks to their defence and special teams. On the opening kick-off, Devin McGuirk (Barrie, ON) forced a fumble which was recovered by Josheiwa Byron (Brampton, ON) giving the Huskies excellent field position, which led to a 25-yard field goal from kicker Adam Johnston (Rothsay, NB).
The Huskies would force another turnover just two drives later, with defensive back Logan Mendes (Quispamsis, NB) picking off Mounties quarterback CJ Valenti (Montreal, QC).
Huskies kicker Adam Johnston continued his outstanding accuracy, nailing a 32-yarder through rain and wind. On the season, Johnston is now 11/12 on field goals and 5/5 on extra points, leading the AUS in both categories as well as points (38).

That's when Saint Mary's quarterback Michael Petroschke (Toronto, ON) found his rhythm, first connecting with receiver Joshua Jack (Brampton, ON) on a wild circus-catch to move the Huskies into Mounties territory.

The Mounties began to find some second half momentum, thanks in large part to a solid run game led by Brandon Quigley (Newmarket, ON), with quarterback Xavier Uhr (Moose Creek, ON) scoring a one-yard rushing touchdown for the home teams first points of the afternoon.
But the Huskies were able to respond immediately, moving the chains into Mounties territory, setting up a one-yard rushing touchdown for first year running back Liam Legge (Stewiacke, NS), extending the lead to 32-7.
Mount Allison would score two more rushing touchdowns before the day was over, bookended by a Cameron Brown (Hammonds Plains, NS) rouge, making the final score 33-22.
