Track & Field results - Athletics NS Indoor Open

(Halifax, NS) The Huskies opened the New Year at the Athletics Nova Scotia Indoor Open in Halifax on Saturday.  A number of personal bests were set along with two school records, both set by Emily Batt.

 

Third year student-athlete, Emily Batt set two new school records on the women side in the high jump and 60m hurdles. Batt recorded a jump of 1.50m in the high jump, placing 2nd among university athletes, and crossed the line with a time of 9.54 in the 60m hurdles. With a pentathlon on the horizon in two weeks in Saint John, the multi-event athlete should fair well.

For personal bests on the women's side, 2nd year athlete Sophie Leblanc ran to a 1:48.84 in the 600m and 4th year athlete Sarah Polak recorded a 1:56.21. Women's team captain Ashley Murray jumped a personal best in the long jump with a distance of 4.70m, and 1st year athlete Gael Cameron recorded personal bests in both the 800m and 1000m with times of 2:47 and 3:44.46. In the women's 60m, 1st year athletes Sophie Boulet and Fiona Roberts recorded personal bests, crossing the line in 8.71 and 8.75 respectively.

On the men's side, 3rd year athlete Matthew Carlton sprinted to a personal best in the 60m with a time of 7.38. In the men's 1500m, 2nd year athlete Joe Stewart recorded a slight personal best in the 1500m by .25, with an official time of 4:12.17. 1st year athlete Nick Burgers-Lamontagne also ran a personal best in the 1000m, finishing in a time of 2:48.64.

 

The Huskies Track and Field teams are back in action January 31st at the New Brunswick Indoor Champs & University Invitational in Saint John, NB.
