MONCTON, NB - Moncton forward Erica Plourde scored two goals, including the overtime winner, to power the Aigles Bleues to a 2-1 win over the Saint Mary's Huskies in the opening game of the 2024-25 AUS Women's Hockey regular season on Wednesday night at J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena.
It was the visiting Huskies who would hit the scoreboard first, on a nice passing play, as forward Charlotte Buffie (Winnipeg, MB) stole the puck and passed to winger Avery Cant (Waterloo, ON), who attracted the defences attention before dropping a cross-crease pass on to the stick of Kara MacLean (Antigonish, NS), who made no mistake, giving the Huskies a 1-0 lead 18:23 into the first period.
