FREDERICTON, NB - St. Thomas goaltender Chloe Marshall turned away 23 shots, as the Tommies defeated the Huskies 2-0 in Atlantic University Sport women's hockey action on Saturday afternoon at the Grant-Harvey Centre in Fredericton, NB.
The Tommies scored a pair of first period goals from forwards Olivia Stock and Ekaterina Pelowich, and never relinquished the early lead. The Tommies outshot the Huskies 30-23 for the game, with Chloe Marshall stopping all 23 shots for the shut-out, while Huskies netminder Sophie Scully made 28 saves in defeat.
With the win, the Tommies improve to 11-7-2-1 on the season, ranking fourth in the conference. The Tommies will be back on home ice on Sunday, Jan. 26, hosting the Moncton Aigles Bleues (12-6-2-1) at 3 p.m.
The Huskies loss drops their record to 8-8-4-1 on the campaign. The Huskies weekend road swing continues on Sunday, Jan. 26 as they visit the UPEI Panthers (9-8-2-1) at 3 p.m. in Charlottetown, PEI.
