Huskies top visiting X-Women 1-0

In their final home stand of the year the Saint Mary's Women's Soccer Team grabbed a win over the weekend with a 1-0 victory over St. FX.  This came on the heels of a tough 4-0 loss against 5th ranked Cape Breton the day before, that saw Huskie Keeper Morgan Geremia face a whopping 17 shots on goal and three Capers scoring in the 2nd half.

Sunday was a different story however as the women were able to keep the game close throughout as Jackie Blank, who got the start in goal, was able to blank the X-Women through 90 minutes.  In the 77th minute Saint Mary's received the chance they were looking for as the Huskies put pressure in the St. FX zone forcing the X-Women to take a penalty.

Celina Cavadini made no mistake on the resulting penalty shot for her first goal of the year, giving the Huskies their first win of the year.  The Huskies will now head to top-ranked UNB and Moncton next weekend to close out the 2014 season.
