Darren Russell enters his 16th season as Huskies head coach.

Hailing from Truro Nova Scotia, Darren was previous the assistant coach at Saint Mary's for eight seasons before taking over as head coach in 2009-10. Darren has been a head coach at the club and college level and was the head coach for the Nova Scotia Women's Canada Game team that captured 4th place in 2009. Darren has partially completed his level 4 certification and continues to be one of the leading women's volleyball coaches in the Atlantic Region.

Over Darren's 15 seasons as head coach, he has a 182-94 record (65.9% winning percentage) and has led the Huskies to the AUS finals in 10 of his 15 seasons, capturing three AUS Championships. Darren has been named AUS Coach of the Year three times (2021-22, 2011-12, 2010-11).

Russell has coached three U SPORTS Major Award Winners, eight U SPORTS All-Canadians, five U SPORTS All-Rookie Team selections, and many AUS Award Winners and All-Stars.
