Brady, Miller pace Huskies cross country at STFX Invitational Meet

ANTIGONISH, NS - The second race of the Saint Mary's Huskies Cross Country season took place in Antigonish on Saturday hosted by St. Francis Xavier University, which saw the Huskies move forward in an upward trajectory.

Four women toed the line for the Huskies today, including first-year athlete Faith Anderson making her debut in maroon and white. The top finisher for the Huskies was third-year Ashley Brady with a time of 36:07. Brady was followed by Jacqueline Moore in a time of 36:41. Rounding out the Huskies were Bhreagh Burke and Faith Anderson tying in a time of 40:59 over the 8k course. The winner of the women's race was open athlete Zoe Mosher in a time of 30:52. The St. FX X-Women placed 1st in the team standings with a score of 24 points.

The men had a solid day seeing several positive and confidence building performances. First-year athlete Cole Miller finished first for the Huskies in a time of 28:48 a new personal best. Following Miller was Brady Kyle in a time of 29:17 and captain Matthew Mundy in 29:26. The Huskies then put in four in a row; Alex Lebrecque in 29:45, Eli Ford in 29:51, Zack Kennedy in 30:35, and Oliver Hubka in 31:51. Jacob Benoit of the Dalhousie Tigers won the individual title in a time of 25:04. The St. FX X-Men won the team title with a score of 20 points.

The Huskies are back in action on October 5th, at the Universite de Moncton.
