Derek Gentile, a fourth year forward from Sydney, NS, is the Huskies male athlete of the week for the week of Jan. 20-26, 2025.

Gentile scored five points (four goals and one assist) over a pair of Huskies wins this week.

In Wednesday's 7-3 win over the Acadia Axemen, Gentile scored two goals, includingv the game-winner, and recorded seven shots on goal and +2 plus/minus rating.

In Friday's 6-4 win over the UPEI Panthers, Gentile again scored two goals, including the game-winner, added an assist and recorded six shots on goal and a +2 plus/minus rating.

On the season, Gentile leads all of U SPORTS with 37 points, ranks second in the AUS with 16 goals and third with 21 assists. He also leads the AUS with four game-winning goals.

Through 24 games played, the Huskies men's hockey team has a record of 14-8-2-0, tied for second in the conference. The Huskies will be on the road next weekend, visiting UNB on Friday and Moncton on Saturday, before returning to the Dauphinee Centre to host the UPEI Panthers on Wednesday, Feb. 5 at 7 p.m. GET TICKETS
