Mercer and Batchilder named Huskies Athletes of the Week: Sept. 9-15, 2024

Men's soccer forward Colby Mercer and women's rugby prop Pearce Batchilder have been named Huskies Athletes of the Week, sponsored by Freeman's Little New York Halifax, for the week ending September 15th, 2024.

Colby Mercer, a fourth year forward from Beaver Bank, NS, is the Huskies male athlete of the week for the week of Sept. 9-15, 2024.

Mercer scored four goals over a pair of Huskies wins. In Friday night's 3-2 win over the Moncton Aigles Bleus, Mercer scored all three Huskies goals, including a pair of goals in the final 10 minutes, to lead the Huskies to a comeback win. In Saturday afternoon's 3-2 win over the UNB REDS, Mercer scored the Huskies opening goal. 

On the season, Mercer leads the AUS with six goals and seven points through six games played. Following a six-point weekend, the Huskies are in first place in the AUS with a 4-2-0 record, and host the Acadia Axemen this Thursday at 7:15 p.m. GET TICKETS

Pearce Batchilder / Women's Rugby / Prospect Village, NS / 1st year / Commerce

Pearce Batchilder, a first year prop from Prospect Village, NS, is the Huskies female athlete of the week for the week of Sept. 9-15, 2024.

Batchilder scored the first try of her AUS regular season career in the Huskies 65-17 loss to the Acadia Axewomen on Sunday afternoon, and was named Player of the Game.
