MacMullin and Barrington named Huskies Athletes of the Week: Jan. 13-19, 2025

Men's track & field athlete Andy MacMullin and women's hockey defender Anna Barrington have been named Huskies Athletes of the Week, sponsored by Freeman's Little New York Halifax, for the week ending January 19th, 2025.

Andy MacMullin, a third year sprinter from Boisdale, NS, is the Huskies male athlete of the week for the week of Jan. 13-19, 2025.

At this weekend's Athletics Nova Scotia Open, MacMullin participated in three events, winning two, and breaking two Saint Mary's school records.

On Friday night, MacMullin led the Huskies 4x400m relay to a new Saint Mary's school record 3:27.76 finish. That time currently ranks 8th in U SPORTS.

On Saturday, MacMullin won the 300m in a time of 35.21, breaking another school record and ranking 11th in U SPORTS.

MacMullin capped off the weekend by participating in the 4x200m relay, which the Huskies won with a time that currently ranks 14th in U SPORTS.

Huskies Track & Field have two more exhibition meets - the New Brunswick University Invitational on Jan. 31 in Saint John, NB and the Saint Mary's Open on Feb. 8 at the Canada Games Centre - before they compete at the AUS Track & Field Championships, Feb. 21-22 in Saint John, NB.

 

Anna Barrington / Women's Hockey / St. John's, NL / 2nd year / Commerce

Anna Barrington, a second year defender from St. John's, NL, is the Huskies female athlete of the week for the week of Jan. 13-19, 2025.

In Friday's 5-1 win over the Mount Allison Mounties, Barrington scored a pair of goals - the first two goals of her U SPORTS career - added an assist and was a +5 on the night.

On the season, Barrington has appeared in all 20 games, leads Huskies and ranks 5th in the AUS with a +10 plus/minus, and leads Huskies defencewomen with two goals and seven points.

Through 20 games, the Huskies are sixth in the standings with a 8-7-4-1 record, heading into a pair of games this weekend as they visit the St. Thomas Tommies on Friday and UPEI Panthers on Saturday.
