Huskies continue to post personal bests at Athletics NS Indoor Open

The Huskies Track and Field team had an excellent showing at the Athletics NS Indoor Open this weekend, hosted Friday and Saturday at the Canada Games Centre in Halifax.

The meet was highlighted by multiple podium finishes and a plethora of new personal bests for the athletes. Raeden Black was the first Husky to gain a top 3 performance, finishing 3rd in the women's 60m hurdles with a time of 10.15. In the men's race, Braden Marshall and Owen Nix won 1st and 2nd place respectively, crossing the line in 10.23 and 10.41 seconds.

The overall best Husky performance of the meet was rookie Chad Smith winning the 60m dash, finishing with a speedy time of 7.04 seconds, a new personal best. The distance squad also had a great showing on the track with several PB's, the major highlight being Tadiwanashe Whingwiri's 3rd place finish in the men's 600m run with a time of 1:28.27. To cap off the meet, 4th-year captain Innis MacMullin ran to another 3rd place finish in the men's 300m dash, with a time of 36.91 seconds.

Other personal best performances of the meet went to Whingwiri (2:43.11) and Callum Cunningham (3:06.31) in the men's 1000m; Eli Ford (1:31.62) in the men's 600m; Angie Gittens (1:45.80) and Marcienne Theriault (2:01.58) in the women's 600m; Ashley Brady (5:22.63) in the women's 1500m; Matthew Mundy (4:33.25), Alex Labrecque (4:46.48), and Travis Gillis (5:08.14) in the men's 1500m; Jaiden Williams (36.96), Oliver Gavel (37.41), Caelen Murphy (38.35), D'Andre Farrell (39.81), Noah Martin (40.21), and Jason Okunola (40.50) in the men's 300m; Okunola (7.64) in the men's 60m; Megan King (45.48) and Tayah Remington (46.14) in the women's 300m; and Lila Gechtman in the women's long jump (4.55m).

The Huskies will be back in action February 2nd-3rd when they travel to Saint John, NB for the NB Indoor Championships / University Invitational hosted by the UNB REDS.
