Young and Beaumont named Huskies Athletes of the Week: Oct. 28-Nov. 3, 2024

Men's football quarterback Allan Young and Women's Basketball forward Lucy Beaumont have been named Huskies Athletes of the Week, sponsored by Freeman's Little New York Halifax, for the week ending November 3rd, 2024.

Allan Young, a first year quarterback from Halifax, NS, is the Huskies male athlete of the week for the week of Oct 28 - Nov 3, 2024.

Young completed 20/29 passes for 279 yards and two touchdowns, and added a one-yard rushing touchdown, leading the Huskies to a 21-17 win over the StFX X-Men in Saturday's AUS Semifinal.

Young completed the game-winning 27-yard touchdown to receiver Brycen Mayoh to punch the Huskies ticket to the Loney Bowl for the first time since 2018.

Lucy Beaumont / Women's Basketball / Fredericton, NB / 5th year / Master of Finance

Lucy Beaumont, a fifth year forward from Fredericton, NB, is the Huskies female athlete of the week for the week of Oct 28 - Nov 3, 2024.

Beaumont averaged 21 points, 13 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.0 steals in leading the Huskies to a pair of wins over the Acadia Axewomen.

In Wednesday's season-opening 69-58 win over the Axewomen, Beaumont scored 13 points, adding seven rebounds, two assists and two steals.

Beaumont followed up that performance on Saturday with a 29-point, 19-rebound double-double, adding three assists and a blocked shot, earning Player of the Game honours in a 73-65 win over the Axewomen.

Through two games of play, Beaumont ranks second in the AUS in scoring, third in rebounding and field goals made.
